The Zurich Youth Symphony Orchestra (ZYSO) was founded in 1987 by Howard Griffiths. Inspired by successful concerts and enthusiastic reviews, the string ensemble quickly transformed itself into a "real" symphony orchestra and today comprises about 80 members aged between 14 and 24 years. The orchestra plays an important role in the youth orchestra scene and has been making concert tours abroad for many years (including to the USA, France, England, Germany, Greece, Spain, Canada, South Korea, Italy, Japan, Argentina and South Africa). As "Junior Music Partner" of the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, the ZYSO performs regularly at the Tonhalle Zurich. The orchestra is under the trusted direction of David Bruchez-Lalli.
Raphael Nussbaumer began playing the violin at the age of four. At the age of six he was accepted into the class of Philip A. Draganov and has since won numerous prizes at international competitions. With the violin concerto by Sibelius, Raphael Nussbaumer has already been a soloist on numerous international concert stages.
