The Clarinet Concerto of Mozart with its Adagio belongs to his most famous pieces. So to this day, one will gladly resort to the piece again and again, for example as the film music of Beyond Africa. Mozart wrote this work at the height of his creative powers. Its rehearsal and performance is a must for every clarinettist of international standing.
Brahm's 2nd Symphony was written in the summer of 1877 during his stay in Carinthia on Lake Wörthersee. Its premiere took place in Vienna at the end of the same year, conducted by Hans Richter. It is often considered his most popular symphony, and its cheerful, pastoral mood certainly contributes to this.
The Zurich Youth Symphony Orchestra (JSOZ) was founded in 1987 by Howard Griffiths. Inspired by successful concerts and enthusiastic reviews, the string ensemble quickly transformed into a "real" symphony orchestra and today comprises around 80 members aged between 14 and 24. The orchestra plays an important role in the youth orchestra scene and has been making concert tours abroad for many years (including to the USA, France, England, Germany, Greece, Spain, Canada, South Korea, Italy, Japan, Argentina and South Africa). As a "Junior Music Partner" of the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, the JSOZ performs regularly at the Tonhalle Zurich. The orchestra is under the proven direction of David Bruchez-Lalli.
