8:30pm | St. Stephen's Cathedral
The net proceeds of the concert will go to the charity campaign "Ein Funken Wärme" (A Spark of Warmth) of Caritas and Kronen Zeitung.
Listen to the Wiener Singakademie, the choir of the Wiener Konzerthaus, with an excellent a capella program and readings by local film star Karl Markovics, and support the charity campaign "Ein Funken Wärme".
Music was and is - especially in difficult times - an expression of longing, hope and love. In the first Corona Lockdown, culture was forced to come to a standstill.
The Wiener Singakademie, together with its artistic director Heinz Ferlesch, developed an a cappella program that gave the singers courage and confidence during this difficult time. Compositions by Franz Schubert (An die Musik), Reynaldo Hahn (A Chloris), Gustav Mahler (Urlicht) or Johannes Brahms (Fest- und Gedenksprüche), among others, were selected. These "island pieces" all speak of hope and humanity, of the small and great happiness for which we all yearn.
The Wiener Singakademie now passes on these musical sparks of humanity to those in need of help: They resound - a cappella and enriched by a reading by Karl Markovics - in Vienna's St. Stephen's Cathedral. The net proceeds of the concert will go to the charity campaign "Ein Funken Wärme" (A Spark of Warmth) of Caritas and Kronen Zeitung. With the purchase of a ticket, every concert visitor supports people in need, who are ensured a warm home in winter. Together, the performers and the audience give warmth to people in crisis.
