8:30pm | St. Stephen’s Cathedral
Hear an a cappella program ranging from classical to gospel, including works by Mendelssohn and Bruckner, with the Oregon State University Chamber Choir at St. Stephen's Cathedral.
Over the past several years, the Oregon State University Chamber Choir, under the direction of Dr. Steven Zielke, has established itself as one of the preeminent choirs in the northwestern United States, achieving U.S. and international acclaim. For example, the choir received the Grand Prize at the "Festival of Light" in Bulgaria in 2001 and numerous other awards at national and international choral festivals and competitions. The Chamber Choir has performed in numerous fantastic venues, churches and concert halls, such as a performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony in the famous Prague Hall and Prague Castle. Numerous national and international concert tours have already taken the young singers to Germany, China, Colombia, and much of the United States, among other places. Many of the choir members aspire to a career in the music industry, as music teachers or as singers. But there are also quite a few choir members who are studying completely different subjects. The young people are united by their love for the arts and vocal music.
