A. Vivaldi published his four violin concertos in 1725 as part of his collection Op. 8 and at that time, with his experience as a virtuoso violinist on the one hand and as an opera composer on the other, he knew how to create splendid musical effects: gentle winds, violent storms, pressing heat and powerful thunderstorms, bird voices and the barking of a dog, hunting, a farmer's dance and jolly skating. Vivaldi draws musical images on the scores, which stimulate the imagination and captivate the audience.
In addition to Vivaldi, other composers also devoted themselves to the theme of "the Seasons". One of the most important works is Joseph Haydn's oratorio of the same name. You will hear an overture composed from parts of this work and brought into a string quartet version.
