Listen to a lively choral concert with the Iowa State University Wind Ensemble at the Salzburg Cathedral.
The Iowa State University Wind Ensemble consists of sixty-six of the finest student wind and percussion players on the campus of Iowa State University. The Wind Ensemble regularly commissions new compositions and performs with renowned guest conductors, composers and soloists.
Under the direction of Michael Golemo, the Wind Ensemble has performed at Orchestra Hall in Chicago, Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis and the Holland Center for the Performing Arts in Omaha since 1999.
Iowa State University has over 700 students enrolled in the band programme, which includes four concert bands, two jazz ensembles and five sports bands, including the ‘Cyclone’ Marching Band. This is the wind ensemble's ninth trip to Europe since 2003. Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, is one of the nation's leading land-grant universities. It was founded in 1858 as the Iowa Agricultural College and Model Farm and was the first land-grant institution in the country.
