Listen to Mozart's traditional Requiem before All Saints' Day in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna!

W. A. Mozart's Requiem is one of the finest and most moving works classical music has to offer. The myths surrounding Mozart's last composition contribute to the incredible appeal of this masterpiece. The Requiem conveys the powerful emotions that people experience when faced with death: fear, anger, despair, sadness, hope and consolation.

Mozart's connection to St. Stephen's Cathedral is known throughout the world. Mozart married his wife Konstanze in St. Stephen's Cathedral, and two of his children were baptised there. After his death, he was laid out in the cathedral for a final farewell before being transferred to St. Marx Cemetery in Vienna. Mozart's name can be found in both the death register and the cathedral's so-called Bahrleihbuch (death fee book), and his marriage to Constanze Weber is also recorded there.

The Vienna Cathedral Orchestra and the St. Stephan Vocal Ensemble, conducted by cathedral music director Markus Landerer, will perform W. A. Mozart's Requiem in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, fittingly on All Saints' Day.
